Doggy Boutique recommends Dog Lost as the best website, however we don’t believe you should put all your eggs in one basket, the more you can spread the news of your lost pet the greater the chance of it being reunited.  It’s clear to us that Dog Lost is the best but the person that may find your dog may list it on one of the other sites.  RSPCA actively promote Pets Located, however they don’t even list pets they find on it, it is also the only site that charges to list a lost dog on it.  It’s only £12 which is nothing, if it helps get your dog back, but all the other sites allow listing for free.  You can always donate to the site that help you to find your pet.

Pre Register Your Dog

On most of the site you can pre-register your dog which will save time if the day ever came that you needed to use their service.  The advantage of this is you can take detailed photos of your dog so it can be easily identified which you may not have to hand if it went missing.

Get Your Dog Microchipped

One of the best things to increase your chances of seeing your dog again is to get them microchipped, each microchip carries a unique number which is stored in a database against your details.  PetLog, run by the Kennel Club is the largest of the databases and will always be the first database to be checked.  There are some companies that run their own databases that might save a few pounds initially but don’t have the staff or skills to be to quickly locating your dog which results in higher pound costs if picked up by a dog warden, and more stress to both you and your dog.  Petlog calls are answered 24/7 365 days a year.  With the new companies that aren’t recognised by the Microchip Trade Association who make sales claims which are at best wrong, and more commonly blatant sales lies wont be answering your call when you need them.

PetLog

We can microchip your dog (and other pets) and register them with PetLog.  We can also let you know your pets microchip number if they are already registered.  We use a special scanner that alerts us immediately to lost dogs, (it stores a list of the latest PetLog reported dogs to aid finding them).  It can read all pet microchips used in the UK.
